Please do not enter a Canberra Health Services (CHS) facility if you have any respiratory symptoms unless you are seeking medical care. Symptoms of a respiratory illness include:

  • fever
  • chills
  • a cough
  • sore throat
  • shortness of breath.

Safety measures

If you are a patient or if you have symptoms of a respiratory illness and need to go to a CHS facility you must:

  • wear a surgical mask
  • use hand sanitiser
  • maintain physical distance
  • follow the advice of our team.
  • Masks are available at all entry points.

Visiting someone at hospital

Visitors with any respiratory symptoms or recent COVID-19 should not visit clinical areas.

If the patient you wish to visit has a respiratory illness, visits will need to be clinically assessed by the team and some additional restrictions may apply.

At times we may need to put in place, short-term visitor restrictions in response to a local outbreak to reduce the risk of transmission and ensure the safety of patients and staff. These may include limiting the number of visitors at the bedside at any given time and requiring visitors to wear masks.

For more information on COVID-19, testing and symptoms, visit the ACT COVID-19 website.
