Your treating team may decide that you are able to spend some time away from the unit. This is called ‘leave’.
Your leave is usually structured at set times of day to allow you to participate in the therapeutic group program. The length and type of leave will be decided by your doctor in discussion with you.
Leave might also be overnight, where you return to the unit the next morning.
Leave is arranged with the approval of the consultant psychiatrist on your treating team. We will make a note of when you leave and return to the unit. Your doctor will consider your health and safety and may approve accompanied leave (with another person, either staff or a family member or friend) or unaccompanied leave (by yourself).
