We provide specialist trans ischaemic attack (TIA) and Stroke clinics at North Canberra Hospital.

About this service

We have a four-bed Stroke unit which provide specialist neurology care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and an acute stroke team for delivery of intravenous thrombolysis in appropriate patients.

We also have a Neurology Service at Canberra Hospital.

How to access this service

Your GP, the emergency department, another hospital, specialist or health care provider will arrange for your to access this service.

What to expect

One of our doctors will review and triage your referral once we receive it.

What to bring

• Medicare Card or ACT Services Card
• Any letters or correspondence from your GP
• Health Care Card and/or Concession Card
• Private Health Insurance Card (if applicable/if you want to use it)
• List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you bought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
• Reading glasses (if required)

This service is provided free of charge to consumers with a Medicare Card or ACT Services Access Card.
