We provide pharmaceutical services for inpatients at North Canberra Hospital.

About this service

We provide pharmacy services for inpatients as well as limited, specialised outpatient services.

We do not provide a dispensing service to the general public.

Who we care for

People admitted to North Canberra Hospital.

We also have a Pharmacy Service for Canberra and University of Canberra Hospitals.

How to access this service

Referral will be provided by your medical team at North Canberra Hospital.

What to expect

When you are discharged from hospital you will be given a small quantity of medication to last until your follow up appointment with your GP or specialist, usually a 3 day supply.

It is important that you organise a follow up appointment promptly so that you do not run out of medication.

Please note: It’s important that you bring your current medications and prescriptions to the hospital if you have a planned admission or arrive as an emergency patient; this assists the doctors and pharmacists to reconcile your medications for accuracy during your hospital stay.

You can contact us on (02) 5103 6265.

We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm with a weekend service for inpatients.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Medicare card
  • Any letters or correspondence from your GP
  • Medicines you need to take while you are here
  • List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have brought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
  • Previous x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
