Our Paediatric Endocrine clinic provides care and treatment for infants, children and teenagers with hormonal problems.

About this service

Endocrinology deals with the way hormones act in the body. Our Paediatric Endocrine Clinic sees people with problems affecting the:

  • thyroid gland
  • pituitary gland
  • adrenal glands.

We also see people with:

  • differences in sex development
  • early or late puberty or period problems
  • growth disorders.
  • children who have endocrine disorders after cancer treatment
  • bone and mineral problems
  • suspected or proven tumours of the endocrine glands.

Who we care for

We see babies, children and teenagers, up to their 16th birthday, who have been referred by their GP or specialist for endocrine care.

Children aged 16 years and above should be referred to an adult endocrinologist.

How to access this service

Your GP or specialist will need to send us a referral for you to access this service.

What to expect

We will review your referral and triage it according to urgency.

You will receive a letter about your appointment date and time once it has been booked.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Medicare card
  • Any letters or correspondence from your GP
  • Private health insurance card (if applicable/if you want to use it)
  • Medicines you need to take while you are here
  • List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have bought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
  • Previous x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
  • Your child’s personal health record (Blue Book)
