Regardless of the type of pregnancy care you’re having; you will have regular maternity outpatient care during your pregnancy.

Who we care for

We care for pregnant people who’ve been booked into pregnancy care at Centenary Hospital for Women and Children.

How to access this service

The first step is to book through Canberra Maternity Options: this is the single entry point if you want to use public maternity services.

What to expect

It’s important to attend your antenatal appointments even if your pregnancy is going well and you feel well.

At antenatal appointments, you can tell us about any concerns or ask questions about your pregnancy, labour or parenthood. We can help you with health and lifestyle support, for example, concerns about your home environment or quitting smoking.

We’ll check your baby’s growth and monitor both you and your baby for any health problems or risks.

We will also give you information about routine antenatal tests and help you to make decisions about things like screening tests.

Some of these appointments and tests need to happen at certain times in your pregnancy.

If you have existing or pregnancy related health concerns, we’ll refer you to medical and allied health appointments as necessary.
