We run an early intervention program for children and their parents in ACT primary schools. This is for children who are beginning to display some behavioural or mental health concerns such as conduct disorder, anxiety or depression.

About this service

Our early intervention program runs in ACT public and Catholic primary schools. At each school the program includes:

  • An 8-week child and parent group program for children beginning to display mental health or behavioural concerns.
  • Education and advice for all teachers and other interested school staff members on how to respond to mental health and behavioural concerns in children.
  • 6-week whole of class program for one class selected by the school.
  • 10 x 1hr sessions for 4 individuals or families at the school.

We currently have two teams operating in Canberra, one on the Northside and one on the Southside. Each team can work with three primary schools per year.

Who we care for

Our service is available to students and their families at the primary schools we are working with.

How to access this service

We do not accept direct referrals. Referrals for the schools we work with are negotiated through the Education and Training Directorate.

Where we’re located

Our team is located at the Tuggeranong and West Belconnen Child and Family Centres, but when we provide our service we come to your school.
