About this service
Our Aboriginal Liaison Officers ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from the ACT and Regional NSW have access to health care services, receive high quality care and are involved in their care planning. We also make sure you have suitable arrangements in place when you leave North Canberra Hospital.
We also have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Service at Canberra Hospital and University of Canberra Hospital.

We provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
How to access this service
You can contact us by calling (02) 6264 7097 or (02) 6201 6283, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
You do not need a referral.
What to expect
We can provide:
- Emotional, social and cultural support to patients and their families
- Liaison services for patients and their families; and
- Information about hospital services and the linkage between the Hospital and other Indigenous Community resources.
We work in collaboration with medical, nursing, allied health and social work teams to provide these services.
What to bring to your appointment
- Medicare card
- Any letters or correspondence from your GP
- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- List of medicines you are currently taking (or the boxes), including medicines you have brought without a prescription, such as herbal supplements and vitamins
- Previous x-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
