Follow up care after radiation treatment

The Radiation Oncology Nurse Led Clinic is for radiation oncology patients. You can use the clinic for up to 6 weeks after your radiation treatment. After 6 weeks, please see your GP.

The nurses at the clinic can:

  • check your skin and help you manage any skin problems or other side affects you may have from your radiation treatment.
  • give you follow-up care after your treatment if you have breast implants or tissue expanders within 7 to 10 days after you have completed your radiation treatment.
  • give you medicines or infusions that your treating radiation oncologist has recommended.
  • arrange for you to be seen by doctors if you need them.
  • refer you to other health professionals if you need them.
  • give you more information after your treatment about how to manage any symptoms caused by radiotherapy.

Clinic times:

When: Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm (closed public holidays)

Where: Radiation Oncology reception, Canberra Region Cancer Centre, Building 20, Level 1 Canberra Hospital.
