Position overview

The Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine Clinical Placement Officer manages Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine clinical and non-clinical work integrated learning placements in the ACT public health system. The Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Placement Officer supports education partners, placement areas and placement supervisors in the provision of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine work integrated learning placements including incident management. The Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Placement Officer assists the Clinical Placement Office Manager with the coordination of a variety of projects and initiatives which will impact the support and development of the nursing, midwifery and paramedicine workforce pipeline.

Key responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

Under the broad direction of the Clinical Placement Office Manager, as the Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine Clinical Placement Officer you will:

  1. optimise systems to support excellence in work integrated learning within Canberra Health services and ACT Health and Community Services Directorate;
  2. plan, co-ordinate and manage Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine work integrated learning placements within Canberra Health Services and ACT Health and Community Services Directorate;
  3. establish and maintain collaborative networks and professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
  4. manage Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine work integrated learning placement participants mandated online learning;
  5. support Canberra Health Services and ACT Health and Community Services Directorate work integrated learning placement sites and facilitators with placement administration and trouble shooting.
  6. assist with Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine work integrated learning student incident management;
  7. manage quality control and improvement measures associated with work integrated learning placement opportunities;
  8. undertake research; collate, analyse and report on placement data; and
  9. undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills including high level interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine roles, and the courses and training programs that progress to Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine positions and careers.
  • Experience in health education with an understanding of clinical environments, professional practice and student placement issues.
  • Demonstrated project management and change management skills including the ability to meet deliverables within set timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, prioritise and problem solve with minimal supervision.
  • 6. Experience in quality improvement activities, including collation and analysis of data, report writing and sound computer skills.

Qualifications

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Nursing
  • Registered Nurse registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in as Registered Nurse
  • Experience in education

Desirable

  • Prior experience in work integrated learning initiatives and programs will be highly desirable

Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining appropriate clearances.
