Position overview

The Chief Financial Officer Division is led by the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) who reports to the Chief Executive officer of Canberra Health Services. The CFO Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of budgets, financial management, and for providing strong operational finance and performance reporting analysis across the health service. The six sub-units within the CFO Division include the Financial Operations and Support Unit, Revenue and Financial Services, Patients Accounts, Health Information Unit and Procurement & Supply.

The positions report to the Assistant Director of Supply Operations, in the Procurement and Supply unit of Canberra Health Services.

The position is primarily located at the Canberra Hospital, North Canberra Hospital and the CHS Distribution Centre and may be required to work periodically at either site.

Key responsibilities

Under regular supervision perform a range of warehousing and distribution tasks including but not limited to:

Operational efficiency, quality assurance and compliance:

  1. Receipt, stowage, issue, and distribution of goods, including sterile goods.
  2. Entering basic issue and receipt of stores into the computerised purchasing and inventory control system.
  3. Distribution/delivery of goods to customers/users.
  4. Process and maintain Supply documentation.
  5. Collect and deliver goods as required.
  6. Assist in restocking.
  7. Clean storage areas and shelves.

Unit improvements and education:

  1. Carry out house-keeping requirements to a high level of competency including processing and maintaining supply documentation and entering basic issue and receipt of stores.
  2. Interpret and apply the principles of safe manual handling techniques including safe handling of chemicals, lifting, pulling, and pushing of loads.
  3. Participate in education and training including on the job competencies and performance management plan
  4. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Competencies

  • Understanding of inventory management principles including FIFO and stock rotation including infection control practices.
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy and ability to become familiar with inventory software.
  • Understanding of supply chain documentation, including delivery dockets and labels.
  • Teamwork and initiative to identify low stock and replenish efficiently ensuring stock rotation.
  • Commitment to hygiene and safety standards and participation in routine cleaning practices.
  • Consistency and reliability in maintaining clean, organised, and functional work spaces including but not limited to trolleys, transport cages and benches.
  • Understanding of manual handling techniques to prevent injury and knowledge of chemical safety protocols including PPE and SDS.
  • Willing to learn and engage in professional development and being receptive to feedback.
  • Embodies and promotes CHS values, Reliable, Progressive, Respectful and Kind.

Qualifications
