Position overview

The Executive Officer position reports to the Business Manager and works closely with Divisional colleagues, the CHS Executive and key staff in Ministerial offices and across other ACT Government Directorates.

The Office of the CFO is the central co-ordination point for the Division and is responsible for incoming and outgoing correspondence, requests for information, Divisional input to Ministerial and Government Business and liaison across Directorates, including Treasury. This position will also be responsible for the delivery of ad hoc projects and priorities for the CFO, including briefing, reports and other correspondence.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

  1. Prepare correspondence, briefs and other documentation on behalf of the CFO office. Support the CFO at regular meetings with other Executives, governing bodies and for other high-level meetings through the provision of briefings, documentation and high-level advice.
  2. Manage the CHSCFO central mailbox and the CFO’s mailbox reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence, including requests for briefings and provide high level coordination with all CHS Divisions.
  3. Manage and coordinate the calendar for the CFO, scheduling and reviewing all diary appointments.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and programs addressing core business of the Division, including planning and managing key projects as required.
  5. Undertake research and provide high level advice to the CFO on strategic, administrative and operational matters to assist decision making.
  6. Provide oversight and secretariat support services for key committees reporting to the CFO.
  7. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing administrative, project and ad hoc support to Senior Executives.

  • Experience or knowledge of the ACT Government Budget and Cabinet processes is desirable.
