Position overview
Reporting to the Executive Group Manager and CFO, the Business Manager is responsible for providing high level advice to, and co-ordinating, driving and delivering work undertaken by the CFO, in close consultation with senior leaders across the Division and broader CHS.
The Office of the CFO is the central co-ordination point for the Division and is responsible for incoming and outgoing correspondence, requests for information, Divisional input to Ministerial and Government Business and liaison across Directorates, including Treasury. This position will also be responsible for the delivery of ad hoc projects and priorities for the CFO, including briefing, reports and other correspondence.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Provide high level strategic and procedural advice to the CFO on directorate and government issues, including administrative, operational and legislative matters.
- Prepare, coordinate input and quality assure complex submissions, reports, briefs, correspondence and other artefacts on behalf of the CFO and broader division (including Finance, Budgets, Procurement and Supply).
- Manage the office of the CFO, including:
- managing financial, human resourcing and other administrative processes for the CFO office.
- undertaking research and contributing to the development, planning and implementation of policies and programs relevant to the core business of the Division.
- Plan and manage the Division’s priorities and any projects identified by the EGM.
- coordinating the Divisional reporting accountabilities.
- Liaise with the senior leaders across CHS, including CEO, DCEO, Professional Leads and other key stakeholders, to ensure the provision of timely advice to Minister’s and Treasury offices.
- Support the CFO at meetings with Ministers, Executives and other stakeholders, through the provision of briefings, high-level advice, secretariat support and actioning any “next steps”.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

- Plan and execute written and verbal advice to Senior Executives and Ministers, including preparation of documents for Cabinet/Assembly matters and Ministerial correspondence.
- Excellent written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, including high level negotiation, liaison and representation experience.
- Demonstrated experience in providing administrative, project and ad hoc support to Senior Executives.
- Exceptional organisational skills and demonstrated ability to be:
- Proactive and flexible;
- Manage competing priorities while working under pressure;
- Able to deliver quality products within tight timeframes, in a dynamic environment.
