‘From comprehensive training programs for nurses, ensuring they're equipped to assist with endoscopies efficiently to hands-on training to continuous education, we're committed to building a skilled workforce.’
We sat down with Feby, one of our Clinical Nurse Consultants, to dive into the incredible upgrades happening at our endoscopy suite at North Canberra Hospital. Here's what she had to say:
‘Our newly upgraded endoscopy suite is set to make a huge difference for both patients and health care providers. With an increased capacity to a remarkable 75-100% from our current service levels.’
‘The introduction of state-of-the-art technology, including artificial intelligence, is revolutionising our approach to detecting polyps during endoscopies. With clearer imaging and AI assistance, our clinicians will be able to spot abnormalities with never-before-seen accuracy.’
‘Detecting polyps early is absolutely critical in preventing colorectal cancer. With our advanced equipment, we're not only improving detection rates but also providing better categorising of abnormalities, leading to improved clinical outcomes.’
Feby's optimism extends to the broader impact on public health initiatives, as she explains, ‘As the National Bowel Screening Program expands, our advancements in endoscopy technology couldn't be more timely. With more accurate screenings, we're ready to make a real difference in detecting colorectal cancers, even in younger individuals.’
Amidst challenges, Feby emphasises that: ‘Through cross-training, recruitment efforts, and ongoing support, we're not just improving health care access but also ensuring our team can deliver the best care possible.’
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to elevate patient care at North Canberra Hospital!
