Exciting News from the Special Care Nursery at Centenary Hospital for Women and Children!

We're overjoyed to share a significant milestone in the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children expansion project. Today, we celebrate the completion of a substantial upgrade to the Special Care Nursery and the broader Neonatology Department. Lori, Acting Assistant Director of Nursing for Neonatology, says:

‘Among the remarkable additions are four more cots in the Special Care Nursery, bringing the total to 18, and two extra rooms where families can stay overnight with their little ones, now totalling four.’

The expansion also brings a host of new features benefiting families in both the Special Care Nursery and the NICU. This includes a new entrance, a comfortable waiting area, a family lounge, a parent expressing room, a respite room for families, an interview room, a dedicated dining and education space, and a specially designed baby bathing area.

‘One of the standout features is the installation of a cutting-edge central monitoring system. This system allows our specialised neonatology team to monitor the vital signs of multiple babies from one station, greatly enhancing our ability to provide top-notch care.’

This expansion is a shining example of what can be achieved when clinicians, team members, and consumers collaborate closely to create calming, supportive, and healing environments, especially for our tiniest patients.
